BVLOS OCTA – Beyond Visual Line of Sight, Outside of Controlled Airspace – was developed as an alternative pathway for RePL qualified pilots to fly BVLOS without having to sit the overcomplicated IREX exam for crewed operations.

The BVLOS OCTA rating will allow remote pilots, who are suitably inducted under a BVLOS approved ReOC holder, to operate a drone beyond the visual line of sight of both the pilot AND any observers who may be present. In this situation, the aircraft is flown entirely using instrumentation and a video feed (if present).

The FPV Australia BVLOS OCTA exam preparation course is designed to give students the advanced level of knowledge required to successfully sit the BVLOS OCTA exam at a CASA approved examination centre.

Note: It is a requirement of the BVLOS OCTA exam that the candidate already holds a RePL qualification. This course of study assumes therefore that you have already achieved both your RePL and associated AROC qualifications.
